What I Offer

Integral Development Coaching

What is Coaching?

Integral Coaching is a partnership between you and your Coach. It is a thought-provoking and creative process, designed to inspire you to discover your potential in all spheres of your life. An Integral Development Programme works with all aspects of you as a person, exploring how you relate to your world. It is an opportunity to work with the stories you tell, turning them into opportunities for lasting learning and growth through self-observation, practices and the development of new competencies.

The Integral Development approach is guided by a deep appreciation of your individuality and aspirations and is rooted in a structured methodology. This approach is influenced by a broad range of disciplines including philosophy, psychology, cognitive science, arts, biology and linguistics.

The Integral Development approach was developed by James Flaherty, founder of New Ventures West, and has been recognised as a leading method for the development of the whole person for over 15 years .

To bring our whole selves to the world, we must find a way to be in our lives which allows us to fully express our deepest qualities through whatever we do. The stories we tell ourselves shape what we pay attention to and what feels possible. This possibility determines how we understand ourselves, others, our relationships and the environment in which we live.

Getting Started

The first step towards coaching begins with a conversation. If, after this initial conversation, we both feel this approach could meet your needs, we can agree to engage in a coaching programme. To begin the conversation, please feel free to contact me and arrange a call.

The Coaching Programme

Once we have agreed to engage on a programme, our initial session of 60-90 minutes will be an ‘intake’ session in which we explore together your coaching topic and the wider context in which it arises. After this session, I will propose a statement of purpose for the coaching programme, some intended outcomes and a reflection on any questions you bring. We will talk about your response to the proposal and evolve it accordingly before continuing to a design for the programme.

When we have agreed on the purpose and intended outcomes, I will provide a programme of self-observation exercises, practices, reading and other activities. These are intended to support your development, not just within our sessions, but also in the midst of day-to-day life and work between our meetings.

After the intake session, we will typically meet for between 7 to 11 further sessions of 60-90 minutes, during which we explore what is arising for you, make adjustments to the programme, and support you in your learning. The sessions will be spread out over about 8-10 months by mutual agreement - often more closely spread towards the beginning and then every 3-4 weeks thereafter. In the last of the sessions, we will review the programme together before we complete the engagement.

How Programmes are Delivered

Since the onset of the pandemic in 2019, it has become possible to conduct coaching engagements very effectively using the advanced online meeting platforms that now exist. This has brought great advantage in terms of allowing for much more flexibility in both time and location. As such, making allowance for time-zones, I am happy to make myself available for international coaching engagements conducted in English. Given my ongoing professional work the majority of my practice tends to take place in the evenings or on weekends.

By default, our coaching sessions will be conducted over Google Meet or an equivalent online meeting platform. WhatsApp, Phone and Email or any agreed equivalent means of contact are part of our ways of communicating in between sessions.

Fees

I offer a range of fees depending on people’s circumstances and am happy to have a conversation and discuss which fee structure best fits with your current circumstances. Having this shape to my practice allows me to support a wide range of people and communities. Please reach out to me and arrange a call to discuss further.

More about the Integral Coaching Methodology

Integral Coaching is an ongoing, evolving methodology intended to be a comprehensive response to human life. The approach was developed by James Flaherty, founder of New Ventures West, by integrating recent discoveries in linguistics, developmental psychology, twentieth-century philosophy, and biology into a practical and customised methodology.

James Flaherty, MCC, is also co-founder of Integral Leadership LLC, and the author of Coaching: Evoking Excellence in Others, which is widely recognised as a seminal text in the field of coach education and is used internationally in universities and coach training institutions.
